Hey Everyone, It's Nicholas from the Napanee Co-operators Today I’m with Amanda Chalk Amber Richardson, and Kelly Roantree Who are all apart of the Lennox and Addington County General Hospital Foundation. This post is a part 1 of 2 parts with the team where we interviewed the team behind the foundation. The foundation is pushing towards a 3.5-million-dollar goal to get MRI functionally here locally. They are making great progress, but like most things the final stretch of any goal is usually the hardest. The Napanee Co-operators appreciates foundations and non-profits like this because they align with Co-operators goal of Investing in the Future Together. So we are happy to be a sponsor of their Golf event July 31 and provide donation support to the foundation. The skill of Networking is critical for Young Professionals There are huge opportunities available to those who seek them out. Most of the time these opportunities are only found by connecting with people, they’re not on Indeed or other job boards. Networking is a hard skill to develop because it can be scary or daunting to put yourself out their. That’s why we held a Young Professionals Networking Lunch. We want to make the barrier to networking smaller by creating more events in the area for individuals to practice and grow their communities. Everyone here was from a different industry, a different background, and had different goals. Yet we all had a blast and are excited for the next event. Our Young Professionals Lunch was a success! Thank you to everyone who attended and everyone who spread the word about the event. Each person found out about the event from a different path, and its exciting to see the community’s support. I can feel this is the start of something bigger in the community. Each person here is from a different background, has a different carrier path, and has their own unique goals. We could all get together to break the ice and start build our networks and find opportunity for each of us to grow. I am excited to see how this develops, and hopefully bring more networking opportunities to the community. Please let me know any new ideas on future events and we will keep evolving the idea. Why I'm Hosting a Young Professionals Event I believe that there are huge opportunities available to Young people in every industry. Each industry is entirely different, and yet there are many common themes. The goal of this event is that people can collaborate on what has worked for them in their industry and what hasn't. You can then learn from others and implement them in your carrier and build your personal network. I also want people to have a low-pressure area to practice networking skills. I believe networking is critical for compounding opportunities in any carrier and its a skill difficult to practice. So, on May 21 from 12-2pm at the The Waterfront River Pub and Terrace I will be hosting a Young Professionals Networking Lunch. Family Heritage is an inspiring puzzle to explore Tuesday Night at the Museum of Lennox & Addington with Jane Simpson taught me a lot about the struggles of history. Every family story is a battle of highs and lows as family adapt to the changing world around them. Jane was able to track her families name and history on monuments all over the map, and just thinking about that makes me want to explore my family history. Fantastic Time at Night at the Museum in Napanee This month's performer was Stephen Meed. He has a fantastic voice, and the passion behind the folk songs was definitely on display. His songs span decades of rich history, and I'm excited to hear his next performance. The Tuesday Nights at the Museum in 2024 have been stellar.
