I joined Co-operators in 1994 as a sales representative for all types of insurance products. In the year 2000, I became the Financial Advisor/agency owner for Barry’s Bay, covering the Madawaska Valley area. At that point, I focused on life insurance, investments and specialty insurance, such as farm and business coverage. In 2018, I retired, but because I loved my vocation so much, I stayed on as a corporate employee and am now a farm insurance specialist.

I relate to the farming community in many ways. Living on a 350 acre farm with over 100 sheep and 50 head of beef cattle, I definitely have farm industry experience. My day begins with farm chores, my lunch is taken up with farm chores and after work there are more farm chores to do. (Thank goodness I work remotely from the farm.) The work definitely keeps me fit, especially in the summer when we are baling hay! We have a huge veggie garden and believe in being as self-sufficient as possible, so you will often find me in the garden on a summer evening. And I am proud to say my canned-good shelves in the basement are full.

With farming and working, you still have to take the time to relax. My other half is retired, but is starting a new AME business. With him being a pilot we spend our spare time flying to local airports. I am currently the secretary for the Bancroft Flying Club, and also spend a bit of time in Barry’s Bay with their summer flower projects.
